Free ACT Word Rules test
Twenty Word Rules questions in the format of the British Army Cognitive Test: first the types, then the words – count how many match in the same position.
- 20 questions
- 3.75 minutes
- Timed
What Word Rules looks like
Word Rules has two memory steps. First you see three types, such as Bird, Tool and Fruit. They disappear. Then you see three words, which disappear too. You answer how many words matched the type in the same position – 0, 1, 2 or 3 (Mindmill practice booklet).
Only the position counts: a fish in the second position does not match if the second type was Colour. Repeating the types silently, in order, keeps them in your head while the words are shown.
How this free test is set up
