Free ACT mini mock test

All five sections of the Army Cognitive Test in one short, timed mock – ten questions per section, in exam order, with an explanation for every answer.

  • 5 sections
  • 50 questions
  • Timed

What the mini mock covers

The Army Cognitive Test has five sections, taken in this order: Error Detection, Orientation, Number Fluency, Word Rules and Deductive Reasoning (Mindmill practice booklet). In every section the question disappears before the answers appear, so the mini mock trains your working memory as much as your reading and maths.

This free version takes ten questions from each section – fifty in total – at the pace of our timed practice. The full course runs each section with the real number of questions and time, plus three full mock tests.

There is no pass mark

The Army does not publish a pass mark for the ACT. Each job role has its own score requirement, and your recruiter tells you which roles you qualify for (British Army). Treat the percentage at the end as a measure of where you lose marks, not as pass or fail.

This free test is being built.

No sign-up, no e-mail. Original questions written in the format of the real test, with an explanation for every answer. Updated 23 October 2026.
